| My recital went really well! I was pretty happy with it. There were of course a few fairly rough spots, but overall I thought it went really well, considering I had 3 hours of rehearsals I couldn't get out of from 3:15-6:15 and a sound check for the recital at 6:45.
The best part is that Matt and Bekah (My brother in law and sister! ) came all the way to Chicago to see me play from NC! They surprised me and got a direct flight to come here my recital...I was so excited!!! It made me very happy.
Here's an Only In Wheaton moment...
We were in Chili's for dessert after the recital (We being Matt's brother and wife, Matt and Bekah, Grandma, my dad, Madison and I) and this guy in a weird green robe stands up at his table and starts singing Amazing Grace at the top of his lungs to his girlfriend. Now this is not just singing. This is like wailing it, very out of tune, with very wide fake vibrato that was all over the place. The WHOLE restraunt could definitely hear. After the first verse we were like "yay he's done and WHAT is his problem" but no, he continues on to the next verse...and then to the next verse...YES, he sings all the verses in Amazing Grace...then Madison looked at the table and there were SEVERAL empty bottles of beer...One of the waitresses turned up the music really loud to drown him out, then the radio was messing up...it was a very interesting night...And it was only like 10:00...hahahaha.
Better go get ready!
Love,
Liz
Only in Wheaton would a drunk person sing AMAZING GRACE.... | | |
| It's actually a new post from the crowded desk of Liz Burgess!!! I'm sitting here, ready to go to bed, excited about Tuesday...my recital.
This weekend was good. It started off with a fun trip into Chicago with some of my favorite girls at Wheaton - Laura, Kristin, Joy and Lauren. We went to celebrate Laura's birthday on Saint Patty's Day. We had an AMAZING dinner and just had fun wandering around Chicago for a bit before we froze and went back to the train station. :)
Saturday I got up early and Madison drove Anna and I to DePaul for a competition. That was a good experience since 2 out of the 3 pieces I performed are on my recital. After that, I got ready for the dance and Madison and I went to the dance and had a blast!!!
It was great! It was a Swing, Salsa and Ballroom dance. Here's some pictures from both nights below:
Here's Joy, Lauren and I on the train on the way into Chicago:

The Dance!!!

One of my favorite freshmen, Marjorie

My roomate and I :) She's actually like 3 inches taller than me...that's just how tall of heels I was wearing!!! hahaha...I figure, I have a 6'4'' boyfriend so I might as well wear tall shoes so I can actually reach his shoulders to dance with him...hahaha

Do you think I like this guy just a little....? hehehe...

TAKE NOTE:
Soon I will be changing this site to a different name, which means it will have a different internet address. I will keep you posted and let you know soon what the new name will be. I'm just doing this for safety reasons. Nothing at all has happened to me, but it would just be safer not to have my name in the title of the webpage. Thanks everyone :) Just transfer your subscription over to the new one once I tell you if you are a xanga user. If not, it'll be really easy to just add my new internet URL to your favorites or something.
Love,

| The title pretty much sums it up...Madness...What I'm doing to myself, I don't know...but it sure is busy! In the next 9 days, I have a competition, 2 lessons, studio class, orchestra and chamber rehearsals, a recital (a week from today), and a master class with Peter Slowik coming up from Oberlin College in Ohio...
NOT TO MENTION HOMEWORK AND WORKING AND MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF A SOCIAL LIFE SQUEEZED IN THERE SOMEWHERE??? haha oh I brought it on myself - and I'm actually very excited about the recital.
This my friends is a week from tonight....(we decided to do 2 seperate posters, one for the Tulip Quintet and one of me)
